Lake Erie: Decent perch fishing was reported in 42 feet out of Walnut Creek and Trout Run, and on the east side of the lake in 35 to 42 feet from the point of the peninsula to Northeast. Walleye fishing was slow as lake temperatures remained at only 57 degrees. Presque Isle Bay was yielding nice catches of largemouth bass and panfish.

Allegheny Reservoir (Forest County): Daniel Steingraber, age 6, caught a 24-inch, 51???2-plus pound bowfin near Tionesta.

Slippery Rock Creek (Butler County), Neshannock Creek (Mercer County): Michael Heasley of New Galilee caught 82 trout, including a 17-inch golden rainbow, and John Stulga of Pittsburgh caught 35 trout on both these streams June 6. Streams were high and muddy yesterday. On Neshannock, trout were starting to take terrestrials along with midges and small nymphs, and smallmouths were hitting on streamers and on poppers evenings and mornings.

Lake Wilhelm (Mercer County): Earl Garrett of Butler caught numbers of walleyes from sublegal to 22 inches in recent days. Bluegills and largemouth bass abounded.

Lake Arthur (Butler County): Two anglers reported limits of 20-plus-inch walleyes over the old Rt. 422 roadbed Saturday. Dave DiSpirito of Massachusetts caught a 14-inch, 2-pound crappie on the eastern end of the lake around the Rt. 528 bridge. Luke Berry and his father Robert caught more than 50 crappies and bluegills and a few perch, mostly on jigs, June 11. Hybrid striped bass, 8 to 12 pounds, were hitting on alewives and blue and silver Bomber Long-As, especially after dark. Catfish were plentiful.

Oneida, Thorn Run reservoirs (Butler County): These American Water Company-owned lakes that had been closed in the wake of 9/11 were reopened to shoreline fishing June 5, drawing numbers of anglers for bass and panfish.

Harbor Acres Lake (Butler County): Bass and panfish were reported in recent days.

Allegheny River: A lot of mud and debris from recent rainfall has impacted conditions. Prior to the storm, Brian Clements reported good fishing from the 62nd Street Bridge to Highland Park Dam, including big numbers of smallmouth bass 12 to 15 inches and the occasional 20-incher on shiners and shad raps, walleyes and saugers on green jigheads and Twister tails, and catfish turning on after 8 p.m. The Venture Outdoors Downtown TriAnglers reported a slow bite Wednesday from the North Shore Wednesday. Highlights included a 19-inch freshwater drum and 18-inch channel catfish caught by Marty Sanders of Overbrook.

Monongahela River: John Hudak of Elizabeth released a 5-plus pound hybrid striped bass to lead the Shad Lure Bait and Tackle June bass contest. Smallmouth bass and catfish also were reported.

Ohio River: Big flathead catfish were reported earlier this week, along with numbers of smallmouth bass.

Cross Creek Lake (Washington County): Kathy Cooper of North Strabane released a 22-plus-inch, 8-plus pound largemouth bass on a plastic lure tipped with crawler.

Youghiogheny Reservoir (Fayette County): Smallmouth bass and panfish were reported from boat and shore in recent days.

Youghiogheny River, Meadow Run (Fayette County): The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission performed unscheduled trout stockings on both waterways last weekend.

Laurel Hill Lake (Somerset County): The Fish and Boat Commission performed an unscheduled trout stocking Wednesday.

High Point Lake (Somerset County): Numbers of northern pike were reported, including many sublegal.

Loyalhanna Lake (Somerset County): Largemouth bass up to 5 pounds were reported last week, along with the release of a legal-size tiger muskie.

Mill Creek (Westmoreland County): Fish and Boat performed an unscheduled trout stocking Wednesday.

Keystone Lake (Armstrong County): Several muskies, including many sublegals, were reported in recent days. The crappie bite was slowing.

Spring Creek (Centre County): Normal flow and good fishing were reported yesterday, with tan caddis, midges, and cahills hatching. Sulphurs were less visible.

Little Juniata River (Blair County): This fishery was blown out yesterday. Hatches included tan caddis, cahills and slate drakes.
